Meet Our Execs

Jennifer Hawkins

Founder and President Jennifer Hawkins is a public relations and communications specialist with expertise earned promoting some of the finest hotels, resorts and hospitality brands in the world. Her combined passion for travel, media and entrepreneurship drive Hawkins International, which has grown steadily over a decade while offering insight and innovative services to meet client needs. Jennifer’s talent for trend spotting, embrace of digital and social media, and solid leadership have fostered loyalty among top editors and hospitality brands.

Since launching HIPR on her own in 2002, Jennifer has focused on building a strong client list while growing the firm in staff and square footage. Even as HIPR’s portfolio blossomed, its office expanded, and its staff increased to 20 professionals, she has steadfastly maintained the firm’s boutique stature, the better to maneuver, innovate, and personalize services in ways more sizable public relations agencies cannot. She has further positioned HIPR as a go-to resource sought by key media influencers for trends and keen insight on the travel industry and other luxury sectors. Jennifer fell hard for travel as a youngster while backpacking through Europe with her father.

Her continued passion has taken her to more than 45 countries across 6 continents. (One of these days she’ll make it to Antarctica.) Prior to HIPR, she headed public relations in the US for Orient-Express Hotels, helping the company achieve new heights of media awareness. A graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Social Ecology, Jennifer is socially committed to her community and in her spare time works with the Girl Scouts, Urban Dove and others. Likewise, many HIPR staffers regularly join efforts to enrich their communities and support local and national causes. Jennifer lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Jon, who is also an entrepreneur in NYC, their two kids, and their beloved dog Sunny.

What is your dream destination/next “dot” on the map?

I'd love to go to Mali and Burkina Faso in Western Africa but that might have to wait a while. I'd love to take my family on an adventure in Costa Rica and explore cloud forests, wildlife and volcanoes. I also want to go to Hawaii since the first and last time I was there was on a business trip that lasted just 24 hours. Next time, we’re doing a family surf camp that lasts a week!

Corey Finjer

Vice President

Since joining HIPR in 2006, Corey has overseen the launch of projects from the redesign of Rosewood Jumby Bay to the rebranding of the Versace mansion in Miami as The Villa By Barton G. She oversees campaigns for luxury hotel brands, such as Dorchester Collection, and independent properties, such as XV Beacon in Boston, increasing exposure through active media relations, event planning and strategic public relations plans. She also oversees the Hawkins Digital Division, providing strategy for a wide range of social media clients. Her passion for hospitality sprang from marketing and public relations for The Charles Hotel in Cambridge, MA, where she gained experience with in-house events, website development, and creating a consistent and effective marketing message. Corey has degrees with honors in communications and psychology from Boston University.

What is your most memorable travel experience?

I will never forget driving 12+ hours from Costa Rica’s Cloud Forest to the Caribbean coast – more than double the time anticipated due to some tropical storms and road conditions. It was a harrowing, curving, detour-filled experience that was worth every life-threatening turn.

Amy Newcomb

Vice President

With over 10 years of experience at Hawkins International, Amy’s specialties include implementing PR strategies, media relations, client services, and new business development. She draws on experience obtaining media coverage for global corporate accounts as well as independent hotels, resorts, destination spas and real estate clients. Prior to HIPR, Amy was a Sales & Marketing Manager who helped launch, brand and position the entertainment website and also worked on the launch of the media watchdog, Brill’s Content. She graduated from Syracuse University with a journalism degree from The S.I. Newhouse School of Communications.

What is your favorite childhood toy?

Candy Land. The colors, the cards, the names of characters and places was so much fun! There wasn’t really a strategy to the game except to get to the Candy Castle so it was easy and I loved picking the cards with the gumdrop or gingerbread on them.

Michelle Kelly

Vice President, Client Services

In a newly-created role as Vice President, Client Services, Michelle Kelly works on employee empowerment programs to ensure client satisfaction levels remain high. Charged with results-driven strategies for new business development, Michelle’s responsibilities include firm goal-setting, financial management of accounts, developing fresh and innovative concepts, policy, and office management.

Michelle joined Hawkins International as an Account Director in October 2013, bringing with her seven years of travel industry public relations experience. She currently leads the overall strategy and client relations for the Loews Hotels & Resorts and Accor brands; U.S. hotels including Enchantment Resort and Mii amo Spa in Sedona, Ariz.; Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa in California; Residence Inn New York; the independent Hotel Vermont in Burlington, and The Seagate Hotel & Spa in Delray Beach, Fla.; and Gstaad Palace and Dolder Grand in Switzerland. She is also involved in the re-launch of the iconic Fairmont Hamilton Princess in Bermuda.

Prior to joining HIPR, Michelle worked in Tallahassee, Fla., at The Zimmerman Agency, an Omnicom company. From directing the North American PR strategy for the Aruba Tourism Authority and managing brand communications for Extended Stay America, to leading media relations for multiple global brand and independent luxury resort clients and negotiating promotional partnerships, Michelle has secured publicity across all media channels.

Raised in Clearwater, Fla., Michelle is a graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor of arts in Communications, with an emphasis on Public Relations.
