Wilderness Safaris Bisate Lodge, located next to the renowned Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, welcomed its first guests on June 26, 2017. Comprising just six spacious forest villas, Bisate offers a luxurious base from which to enjoy an extraordinary gorilla conservation experience and life-changing journey to this beautiful region. The location was selected as it is an important wildlife corridor for the preservation of Mountain Gorillas—Wilderness Safaris has reforested the 103-acre area to enhance the critically endangered animals’ habitat (they have planted over 7,000 indigenous trees thus far) and provide shelter for more species to call home. The lodge is situated within the amphitheater of an eroded volcanic cone and offers sweeping views towards the Karisimbi, Bisoke and Mikeno volcanoes. The lodge features many activities for guests including Gorilla trekking, Golden Monkey trekking, a self-guided running trail, the opportunity to plant a tree on the land and visits to a local coffee farm and village. Within the lodge, there is a spectacular wine cellar that will host educational talks by the resident Gorilla expert, movie nights, Rwandan coffee tastings and wine tastings.
The Loren at Pink Beach, Bermuda’s first new hotel in 45-years, opened its doors this April 2017 to guests looking for a true escape. Located on eight acres of magnificent coastal landscape and combining two restaurants, a full spa, and exceptional service, the 45-key hotel is an elegant and chic new addition to the island hideaway in the North Atlantic. Upon entry, guests are greeted with dramatic views of the ocean and a flood of natural light pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the lobby and dining areas. The Loren’s sleek, contemporary design is a fresh, new look compared to the island’s traditional colonial architecture. Each guestroom at The Loren offers more uninterrupted views of the ocean and calm, serene color schemes with special attention to the fine art in each room, sourced from the owner’s private collection. For the ultimate in pampering, The Spa at The Loren offers signature treatments and wellness offerings featuring local ingredients like hibiscus. Guests can end their day at one of The Loren’s two restaurants – those looking for a laid-back vibe can head to the oceanfront Pink Beach Club, or treat themselves to the fine dining experience at Marée.
