As summer flies by, sometimes it’s hard to make time to travel during the month of September. Thankfully, we know of a prime destination that is located right here in the U.S., so, even if you only have 24 hours, you’ll be able to create a memorable vacation for the entire family!
The beautiful Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, situated an hour and half from Los Angeles in the mountains of Southern California, offers activities and adventures that are sure to please everyone. The property is rich in history as it was once occupied by indigenous Native Americans and later by settlers who harvested lumber that aided in the building of Los Angeles.
If you find yourself venturing to the mountains to evade the Los Angeles humidity, check out our suggested 24-hour itinerary for an exciting retreat:
9:00 AM – Wake up feeling like royalty in your king bed located in the Presidential Suite, complete with a private balcony to witness the sunrise if you choose to wake up earlier.
10:00 AM – Enjoy a hearty breakfast at BIN 189 where you can choose from a vast array of options, such as Mountain Huevos Rancheros or BIN 189 Corned Beef Hash. The menu changes seasonally at BIN 189 meaning you will experience only the freshest, most natural ingredients in your dishes.
12:00 PM – Try your hand at fishing while taking in the wonderful sites of Lake Arrowhead from the water through a Fishing Charter tour. For all the animal lovers out there, don’t worry, Lake Arrowhead is catch and release only.
1:30 PM – After spending some time on the lake, lounge by the resort’s heated outdoor swimming pool and treat yourself to lunch and a drink poolside. If you happen to be traveling with children, there are two outdoor Jacuzzis, one at a low temperature for the little ones and one set to 106 degrees for adults.
3:00 PM – A short 3-minute walk from the resort is Lake Arrowhead Village where you will find a fantastic shopping experience with both boutique stores and outlets. You might even be lucky enough to pass through town while their summer concert series is going on, which is fun for the whole family!
5:00 PM – After a day well spent, take the time to book a deep tissue massage at Spa of the Pines where natural, native materials, such as pine and lilac, are used to create the ideal holistic treatment. You can even purchase aroma-therapy scents in the form of sachets, candles, and lotions to further continue your relaxation long after your treatment.
6:30 PM – Head to BIN 189 for a dinner of rustic favors where you can expect to find anything from Angel Hair Pomodoro to a Charbroiled Halibut. While at dinner, partake in a wine pairing to complement your meal with wines from noted wine-country roadways throughout the world. During your time at BIN 189, you will also have the opportunity to listen to live entertainment from local musicians specializing in guitar, piano and vocals.
8:00 PM – Since Lake Arrowhead is located within the boundaries of the San Bernardino National Forest, the resort and the association have collaborated to cater to visitors. Be sure to sit in on a sunset Fireside Chat on the resort’s private beach to learn about the history of Lake Arrowhead and the interesting people who have left their mark on the San Bernardino Mountains.
10:00 PM – While we can’t tell you to go to bed, you’ll want to escape to the comfort of your king bed after this long and exciting day!
With incredible lake views and many activities to occupy visitors, the rustic elegance of Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa never disappoints. If only there were more hours in a day!
