HIPR is thrilled to be working with The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, which is located on its own private island — just a quick boat ride from to St. Mark’s Square in Venice. The property is the only inhabitant of Isola delle Rose, or the Island of Roses, and has breathtaking views of the Venice skyline. The property is filled with historic and modern elements and offers an abundance of activities for all types of travelers. Here are the 10 things to know about JW Marriott Venice:
- An arrival fit for Bond — The resort’s location in the Venetian Lagoon creates a unique entrance. Guests and locals are ushered into the resort via a complimentary 20-minute boat shuttle from St. Mark’s Square to the island’s private dock. Water Taxis drop guests and visitors off at the hotel lobby. Travelers can also be dropped off right at the docks to the signature restaurant, Dopolavoro.
- Man’s creation — The island was man-made in 1870 and received its name, Isola delle Rose, as the combination of sea and lagoon air stimulated plant growth, allowing roses to thrive.
- Truly Italian escape — Roses weren’t the only plant to flourish in the sea breeze. The island is studded with 100-year-old olive trees — a rare sight in northern Italy — which are harvested every October. The Uliveto Deluxe and Uliveto Suites overlook the olive grove, reminding guests they are truly in Italy.
- A breathe of fresh air — Aside from successful plant life, the crisp air made the island an ideal location for a clinic for respiratory diseases in 1914. The buildings that now make up the resort were built as part of the clinic and have been carefully restored.
- Relax in luxury — The JW Marriott Venice is thrilled to be home to the Venice’s largest spa, the GOCO Spa. In November, the GOCO Spa was been named the ‘Best for the Wow Factor’ and ‘Best for Beauty and Anti-Ageing’ by Spafinder’s 2015 Wellness Travel Awards. It is also the only Bangkok-based GOCO Spa in Europe and has eight treatment rooms, a spa suite and pool with skyline views of Venice.
- Dine under the stars— Guests, locals and Venice‘s tourists can dine under the watchful eyes of three-star Michelin Chef Giancarlo Perbellini at Dopolavoro, which received its first Michelin star in December. In October, the restaurant was also recognized with two forks and an 82 of 100 score in the Gambero Rosso 2016 Guide, a highly regarded and trusted dining guide in Italy.
- Recreate your getaway — Food loving travelers can take home extensive knowledge of Venice’s culinary scene via the Sapori Cooking Academy, hosted by JW Marriott Venice’s Executive Chef Mauro Taufer.
- The best vantage point — The best view of Venice just happens to be from one of the most relaxing spots on property — the rooftop infinity pool. Guests can lounge, splash and dine at Sagra Poolside Bar with 360 degree views of the historic Italian city.
- Sacred space — The Church dates back to the 20th century, added before reopening after the conclusion of World War I in the style of Romanesque Revival. While it no longer is in use for religious services, it serves as beautiful event space.
- A trip for everyone — The JW Marriott Venice is a place for everyone, kids included. The resort has dedicated the pool in the Giardino Garden as the family pool. The neighboring Giardino Garden Grill serves up all of the poolside summertime favorites. Children and parents will equally enjoy the property’s Mask Workshop. Over the course of two days, participants create a classic Venetian mask, similar to those seen during the Venice Carnival, using their own face as a mold if they choose. Families can also take cooking lessons on-site at the Sapori Cooking Academy.
