Well-come to a new series within the Hawkins International blog that will allow me — a wellness and beauty obsessed junkie + expert + guinea pig– to share new ideas and concepts that have us saying “hmmm, what the well is that?!”. Here we welcome curious newbies, wellness warriors, and everyone in between to learn about the innovative new ideas that are driving the $4.2 trillion (yes, trillion) wellness market.
As the head of Hawkins International’s new Wellness & Beauty division, I am beyond excited to leverage our team’s fluency in trending new services, treatments, products, social movements, businesses (etc., etc., etc., etc.,) to widen our lens as an agency and offer services that support this rapidly growing segment. So think of this series as your front row ticket to what we think is the good (Ayurveda, where have you been my whole life?), the meh (why I think massage need a messaging makeover) and the downright absurd (looking at you, goat yoga)…
Today I’m kicking off the blog with a review of some cutting-edge players in the wellness industry who have recently popped up on our radar. Their focus on building a community around wellness and health is a trend we’re sure to see more of, and they’re just so fun and innovative we couldn’t keep them to ourselves! So what the well is going on? Glad you asked…
CONSCIOUS CITY GUIDE
Part weekly newsletter, part social platform… this website serves as an online directory for wellness conscious events and retreats. Examples of event topics include Healing Your Crown Chakra, Shamanic Sound Healing, Aura Photography/Energy Reading, and more.
Why we like it: The platform serves as an accessible mode to discover innovative ways to stay well while also helping to support new + local businesses. The bonus: you can often find events offering free facials and other wellness treatments. Just last week our team attended a local event at CAP Beauty where we were able to discover a very cool clean beauty brand called Intelligent Nutrients. Consider us 5-star fans after experiencing their 15-minute facial!
HOLISTICISM
A new tech platform that allows you to discover and easily book in-person and virtual appointments with the best and most trusted wellness practitioners around the country. Acupuncture, Ayurveda, massage, meditation, and yoga are just SOME of the services you can find on Holisticism.
They also have an AWESOME newsletter that is packed full of cool wellnessey (we’re making it a word mkay?) info like virtual/in-person workshops, inspirational reading, horoscopes, and more.
Why we like it: Say goodbye to sketchy back ally Chinatown acupuncture studios and the smell of Peking Duck… Just me? Bueller?
WELLVYL
Wellvyl is a Brooklyn based social club that created the “healthy nightclub” movement. The mission behind Wellvl is to create a community around health and wellness through events, membership, and products that offer a positive message—all of which follow the core principle that we shouldn’t have to sacrifice our social lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
They also have a magazine that features stories focusing on society’s pitfalls, and how to overcome their impact on our mental, physical and spiritual health. These stories take on a genuine angle when it comes to cultivating healthy social connections and relationships.
Why we like it: As the “sober curious” movement continues to spread like wildfire, we are really into the idea of exploring ways to socialize without having to wake up with a wicked hangover and an empty box of Artichoke Pizza box (perfect, we are not).
As we continue to grow this series on the blog, my hope is that it becomes your one-stop shop for everything happening in the wellness space (trust me, I know there’s a lot. Like. A LOT.) Be on the lookout for product reviews, the best wellness destinations, innovative treatments and so much more.
Until next time…
Stay well,
-Danielle
