We’ve been watching it progress all week. At first it was just a warning. Then it continued to grow. Then it earned itself a name: Jonas. Now the majority of the east coast has found itself blanketed under multiple feet of snow. For a while the snow is nice; you can cuddle up under blankets, pour a cup of hot chocolate and feel like you’re in a snow globe. But then something changes. The snow doesn’t go away, the walk to work becomes impossible and your motivation to leave your apartment dwindles to nothing. Instead of thinking about the prospect of being stranded in New York City, we at Hawkins International have come up with a few suggestions on destinations where we’d rather be stranded when the storm hits!
Privacy is the word at Jamaica’s The Tryall Club. When a winter storm hits we can’t think of a better place to be than the Caribbean Sea. Made up of 75 privately-owned villa homes, each property has a dedicated butler, chef, housekeeper, laundress and gardener to tend to every need any time of day. When your friends are scraping ice off of their windshields, you’ll be taking a glass-bottom boat tour on the Caribbean Sea.
Winter in the Dominican Republic is filled with cool cocktails, sandy beaches and 85 degree weather, and you can experience all of this and more at Eden Roc at Cap Cana. This beautiful Relais & Chateaux resort nestled in the beachfront community of Cap Cana is home to pristine beaches, towering cliffs and tropical forests. The new Eden Roc Beach club, complete with an infinity pool and tranquil beachfront cabanas is the perfect place to be stranded for the weekend, or the month!
St. Barth is the trendy travel destination that’s on everyone’s list this year, and, when Jonas hits, we want to be sunbathing on the sand in front of beautiful Le Guanahani. Set on 18 secluded acres, when you’re at Le Guanahani you’ll feel like you’re on your own tropical island. With two pools overlooking the white-sand beaches, a restorative Spa by Clarins and endless options for guests of all ages, this a place where not only you would want to be stranded but your family as well!
The Virgin Islands National Park is home to a beautiful Caneel Bay which is an ideal place to be stranded! Surrounded by seven pristine beaches and an array of wildlife to explore, there are many exciting activities for the active travelers including snorkeling, kayaking and hiking expeditions. We wouldn’t mind being stuck at this beautiful property for a while.
The Westin Grand Cayman, located on beautiful Seven Mile Beach, will have you covered if you’re ever stranded! They have a fun Out of Office Generator that you can use when you will be away from your desk. With options that include a “Cayman Style” massage and a Moor Mud Body Wrap, the Hibiscus Spa will ensure that you leave feeling pampered and refreshed.
